Lockdown Predictions
Team USA (Sonjay Dutt/Alex Shelley/Jay Lethal) vs Team Japan (Black Tiger/Minoru Tanaka/Hirooki Goto) – This is the first time that TNA fans will be seeing the Japanese team. Since they will be in TNA for the World X Cup, a win would make the fans think they are credible. Last week, Shelley’s lack of teamwork got Jay Lethal pinned and I think that the trend will continue but Dutt will be the man pinned tonight. Prediction: Team Japan
Xscape Match: Chris Sabin vs Elix Skipper vs Petey Williams vs Shark Boy vs Chase Stevens vs Puma - Chris Sabin was named the captain of Team USA and Williams will probably be the captain of Team Canada. The other four men have no major programs on the horizon. I’d expect the final two men in this match to be Sabin and Williams with the win going to Sabin. Prediction: Chris Sabin
Arm Wrestling Match: Konan vs Bob Armstrong - With the exception of mega stars vs unknown jobbers, I have never seen an arm wrestling match end cleanly in wrestling. I have also never seen one in a steel cage. I’m going to say that the LAX traps Bullet Bob in the cage and attack him 3 on 1 until The James Gang makes the save. Prediction: No Contest
Chris Daniels vs ??? - I have no idea who the mystery opponent is but if it a great surprise they would have advertised it. This will probably be the last time we see the mystery opponent for a while and Daniels is soon to be back in the X Division title hunt. Prediction: Chris Daniels
X Division Title Match: Champ Samoa Joe vs Sabu - If this wasn’t for the X Division title, Sabu would be a good person to beat Joe for the first time in TNA. I just don’t picture Sabu as the X Division champion due to his violent style. I think this will be the best match of the night but I don’t think Sabu will pick up the title. Prediction: Samoa Joe
Anthem Match: Team 3D (D-Von/Rey/Runt) vs Team Canada (Roode/Young/A1) - This feud has been going on for a while now and this is the perfect time to end it. Team Canada is moving on to the World X Cup tournament and Team 3D has some unfinished business with the tag team champs America’s Most Wanted to take care of. Prediction: Team 3D
NWA World Title Match: Christian Cage vs Abyss - TNA has been making national appearances lately to promote their new timeslot by saying they are the new face of wrestling and an alternative to the WWE. Having a man wearing a mask that can’t talk and is led around by a sinister cult type leader is not the image TNA currently wants from their champion. Just like the Sabu vs Joe match, I just can’t see Abyss as the NWA Champion at this time. Prediction: Christian Cage
Sting's Army (Sting, AJ Styles, Rhino, Ron Killings) vs Jeff Jarrett's Army (Jeff Jarrett, America’s Most Wanted, & Scott Steiner) - Since Sting beat Jarrett in their last tag team encounter, Jarrett’s team needs to get the win here. It obviously won’t be a clean victory over Sting’s team but there are two things that I can see happening. One, Monty Brown is noticeable by his absence because he was on ESPN 2’s Quite Frankly last week but isn’t on the card tonight. The second way that Sting’s team can lose is if someone turns against Sting. As long time Sting followers know, every few months someone turns against him. The other thing that noted is that there is a coin flip involved in this match to see which team gains an advantage. In the history of wrestling, the good guys have never won a coin toss. I guess the bad guys must always call “Heads I win, tails you lose.” Prediction: Jarrett’s Army
