Review of Cowboy & The Cross by “Cowboy” Bill Watts & Scott Williams
Tuesday April 11, 2006
Bill Watts has been highly successful in all facets of the wrestling business. As a wrestler, he headlined Madison Square Garden against Bruno Sammartino. As the owner of the legendary Mid-South Wrestling promotion, he took the fight to Vince McMahon and went national by transforming his company into the Universal Wrestling Federation. Unlike the other territories that were destroyed by bad business and wrestling decisions, his territory was killed by something that seems unbelievable today, low oil prices. He resurfaced a few years later as the head booker of WCW. His tenure there is best known for some controversial rules changes and an even more controversial ending. He briefly worked for the WWF in 1995 before leaving the business for good. In this book he discusses every facet of his career and does not shy away from talking about controversial topics. As the title of the book implies, Bill Watts is a born again Christian and he finishes the book with his feelings about the business today and how God is touching his life today.
