3/27 Monday Night RAW Recap
Monday March 27, 2006
This is the final RAW before WrestleMania 22. If the purpose of this show was to make you want to buy the PPV on Sunday, then this show was a success. A hot crowd and some great storytelling make this the best RAW in a while. The main event features WWE Champion John Cena , who is guest judging Nashville Star tomorrow night, battle the owner of the WWE, Vince McMahon. The other big match of the night features both of these men’s WrestleMania opponents as Shawn Michaels takes on Triple H. As is the case with these two men, it is impossible for them to have a bad match against each other.
- Mick Foley calls out Edge and offers him a gift on top of the ramp. After the two men exchange insults, Edge opens his gift and finds a bat. Edge brings the bat to the ring and is about to hit Foley with it until Foley unveils a bat wrapped with barbed wire. Foley wins the bat battle and Edge runs through the crowd. Foley then transforms into his Cactus Jack persona.
Kane vs Carlito - This is a rematch from last week and a preview of half of the tag team battle at WrestleMania. When Kane is about to hit the choke slam, Carlito throws the ref into Kane. Kane then follows Carlito to the back where he has Chris Master, Trevor Murdoch, & Lance Cade attack Kane. They group then locks Kane in a closet and block it with a fork lift. The Big Show pushes the fork lift away but Kane had already left the room through a back door. Winner: Kane by DQ
Masterlock Challenge: Chris Master vs The Big Show - Carlito runs away from Kane, who is in the corner of his partner for the challenge. The Big Show allows Masters to put him in the master lock but Masters can’t apply the hold to him because of the size. After failing on several occasions to apply the hold, the men come to blows and The Big Show gives the choke slam to Masters. Winner: The hold is never applied
- The Hall of Fame video is shown for Tony Atlas.
Shawn Michaels vs Triple H - These men have had some classic encounters in the past and this is another good match between them. Shawn has the advantage when Vince McMahon comes out and the show goes to break. A few minutes later, Shawn goes for the sweet chin music when Vince McMAhon grabs his legs. Shawn punches out Vince but then is hit by Triple H’s pedigree. Vince holds Shawn and Triple H goes for the sledgehammer. John Cena comes to the ring and stares down Triple H..Hunter puts down the sledge hammer and Cena finally gets to hit Triple H. Triple H wins this battle and forces Vince and Triple H to retreat to the back. Winner: Shawn Michaels by DQ
- Ric Flair comes to the ring and says that it is his destiny to become the 17 time world champion and starts climbing up a ladder. Shelton Benjamin comes to the ring and tells Flair that WrestleMania will be his time to shine. The two men start brawling and Shelton gets the advantage. Rob Van Dam comes to the aid of Flair and beats up Shelton. Flair then beats up RVD and leaves the ring with two of his WrestleMania opponents laying in the ring.
The Spirit Squad (Kenny/Johnny/Mikey) vs Val Venis, Eugene, & Viscera - The Spirit Squad now have their names on the back of their uniforms. When Val Venis goes to the top rope to hit the money shot, Mikey uses the trampoline to push him off and Johnny makes the pin. After the match all 5 members of the team attack their opponents. They then appear to injure the elbow of Val Venis when Mikey does a leg drop off the top rope onto it while all 4 of his partners hold in position. They then make a cheer for Mr. McMahon and insult John Cena. Winners: The Spirit Squad
- In the back, Trish Stratus is very freaked out by a Mickie James interview. The best way to describe this interview is to compare it to the Ray Finkel’s Dan Marino shrine room in the first Ace Ventura movie.
Trish Stratus & Torrie Wilson vs Candice Michelle & Victoria - Torrie and Candice have a cat fight outside the ring. Inside the ring, Trish hits the Stratusfaction on Victoria to get the win for her team. Winners: Trish Stratus & Torrie Wilson
John Cena w/Shawn Michaels vs Vince McMahon w/Triple H - If it is possible, Vince looks in better shape than ever. I can’t believe the man is 60 years old. Before the match, Vince orders both Triple H and Shawn to be handcuffed to the ring ropes. Cena and Vince have a few test of strengths when Vince kicks Cena in the groin. After the ref calls for the DQ, Vince has the keys to the handcuffs and only unlocks Triple H. Triple H grabs the sledgehammer and uses it on both Cena and Michaels while Vince also gets a chair shot on Michaels. Winner: John Cena by DQ
