Saturday March 11, 2006
Tonight’s main event features a partial preview of WrestleMania as Kurt Angle & Rey Mysterio face Randy Orton & Mark Henry. The match ends with some ominous news for Mark Henry.
Mark Henry & Daivari are in the ring. Henry claims the reason that he interfered in last week’s title match is because he has been overlooked. Kurt Angle comes out and starts fighting with Mark Henry. Randy Orton comes out and they double team Kurt until Rey Mysterio comes out. SmackDown! GM comes out and announces that tonight’s main event will be Kurt Angle & Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton & Mark Henry.
Money in the Bank Qualifier: Lashley vs Finlay - The match never starts as the two men start fighting on the ramp to the ring and security has to come out to break them up. The brawl goes to the parking lot and the two men destroy a car in their quest to beat each other up. Winner: No Contest
- JBL enters the ring to address the crowd. His hand is still in a cast from the injury Chris Benoit gave him. He then complains about an interview Steve Austin did on WWE.com about wrestlers from Texas. He says that the only thing Austin can still do is drink beer. He challenges Austin to a beer drinking contest at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
- Gregory Helms is in Teddy Long’s locker room. He has a broken nose. Long has been forcing Helm’s to defend the Cruiserweight Title every week and he says that this week he doesn’t have to. He then makes a champion vs champion match between Chris Benoit & Gregory Helms.
Pirate Paul Burchill vs William Regal - This is Burchill’s first match on SD with his new persona. This is a battle between mentor and protégé. Burchill wins this match with an impressive new finishing maneuver that starts off like a Rock Bottom but then he does a backflip moonsault and drives his opponents face to the mat. This is the first win for a man to carry a pirate sword to the ring since The Berzerker in the early 90’s. Winner: Pirate Paul Burchill
- Booker T & Sharmell both come to the ring. Sharmell has a giant bag of letters with her. They claim that these letters are from people claiming that The Boogey Man must be stopped. He starts to read off a few letters from PETA, The NAACP, Worm Digest, and The President’s Council of Physical Fitness. They demand that Teddy Long come out and tell them what he plans to do with The Boogey Man problem. Teddy makes a match between The Boogey Man & Booker T for Saturday Night’s Main Event. Booker angrily starts throwing letters around when the bag starts to smoke and then Booker dumps it and it is filled with worms. The Boogey Man comes out and Booker T & Sharmell run away in fright.
- The Sherri Martel Hall of Fame video is shown.
Divas Uncovered Match: Kristal vs Jillian Hall - The purpose of this match is to strip your opponent down to their bra and panties. Kristal wins the match and then strips down for the fans afterwards. Winner: Kristal
Chris Benoit vs Gregory Helms - Even though both men are champions, there are no titles on the line in this match. Benoit immediately starts to work over Helms’ broken nose. Benoit tries to apply the sharpshooter but Helms leaves the ring. On his way to the back, all the cruiserweight come out and throw him back into the ring. Benoit then applies the crippler cross face to get the win. Winner: Chris Benoit
- Animal is interviewed in the back about turning on Matt Hardy. He then starts running down his late partner Hawk and then Heidenreich. He says that he is sick of being a team player. His tag team days are over and he is looking out for himself. Next week he will be facing Matt Hardy.
Kurt Angle & Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton & Mark Henry - After a few minutes of action, Mark Henry beats up the referee. Henry then delivers a splash off the top rope through a table on Angle. The lights go out, the arena fills up with smoke and then The Undertaker announces that he will be facing Mark Henry in a casket match at WrestleMania.Winner: Rey Mysterio & Kurt Angle by DQ
