3/6 Monday Night RAW Recap
Monday March 6, 2006
This week is a special WrestleMania rewind edition of RAW. Several of the matches are rematches from prior WrestleMania events. The main event features a WrestleMania XX rematch between WWE Champion John Cena and Tag Team Champion The Big Show. Other highlights from tonight’s show include a very bad night for Shawn Michaels, several matches added to WrestleMania, and a new WWE Hall of Fame inductee is announced.
- Vince and Shane McMahon enter the ring with a plethora of security. Vince compares what happened last week (Shawn joining the Vince McMahon Kiss My A** Club) to the Oscar’s. He then makes an Oscar style acceptance speech to thank all those that allowed the event to happen. He first thanks The Spirit Squad for their cheer. He next thanked Chris Masters and rewarded him with a tag team title shot at WrestleMania. He then thanks Marty Jannetty and says that he will never enter a WWE ring again. He finally thanks his son and gives him a hug. Vince then unveils his cover of Muscle & Fitness at WrestleMania. When they are about to leave the ring, Shawn Michaels tries to attack them but is held back by security. Vince then makes a match between Shane & Shawn tonight.
Intercontinental Championship Match: Champ Shelton Benjamin w/mama vs Ric Flair - Two weeks ago, Shelton beat Ric to win the title. Both men qualified for the Money in the Bank Match at WrestleMania. A few minutes into the match, Shelton accidentally pokes the ref in the eyes. Ric then applies the figure four leg lock and Shelton taps out. The ref doesn’t see this because of his vision and he DQ’s Shelton. After the match, Flair attacked Shelton with his mama’s oxygen tank. Winner: Ric Flair by DQ
- During the commercial break, SmackDown! GM Teddy Long announces that the Money in the Bank match is now interpromotional. Three SmackDown! stars will be in the match and the qualifying matches will be held on Friday.
Triple H vs Kane - This is a WrestleMania XV rematch. Before the match it is announced that Triple H will be on the Thursday night edition of Late Night with Conan O’Brien. When Kane is about to hit the choke slam, Carlito & Chris Masters attack Kane. The ref doesn’t see this attack. Triple H then hits the pedigree on the hurt Kane to get the win. Winner: Triple H
- Victoria & Candice are in the back discussing the unveiling of Candice’s Playboy cover. Torrie is still upset that Candice slapped her last week. Victoria then says that after the unveiling, everything will be back to normal.
- Stephanie McMahon enters Shawn Michaels locker room. The pregnant Stephanie is showing. She came in to apologize about the actions of her father and brother. She claims to be sick and Shawn leaves to get her a drink. While he is gone, she slips something in his drink. Shawn drinks the tainted water.
Candice Michelle Playboy Cover Unveiling: Torrie Wilson & Victoria welcome Candice Michelle to the ring. There is a giant box with the magazine cover on all sides. The box is raised and Candice is underneath it. She does her GoDaddy.com dance. She then grabs the mic and starts insulting all of the Divas. She says that she is the hottest WWE Diva to ever pose for Playboy. She then tells Torrie that her cover is hotter than both of Torrie’s covers combined. Candice apologizes for being mean. When it appears they are going to make up, Victoria and Candice attack Torrie.
Shane McMahon vs Shawn Michaels - Shawn is incapacitated very early in the match by the drugs Stephanie put in his drink. Shane easily wins this match as Shawn can barely function from the drugs put in his drink. After the match, it is announced that Shawn has another match scheduled. Winner: Shane McMahon
Vince McMahon vs Shawn Michaels - Vince enters the ring and cover Shawn for the three count. The Spirit Squad comes out and puts the McMahon’s on their shoulders. Winner: Vince McMahon
Eugene vs Kenny - The Spirit Squad is still celebrating in the ring when Eugene comes out. They play keep away with their air horn with Eugene. Kenny then attacks Eugene once he gets the air horn. The other 4 members of the team are outside the ring. Their interference costs Eugene the match. The match ends when Kenny hits a leg drop off the top rope. Winner: Kenny beat Eugene
Maria vs Lita w/Edge - A few weeks ago, Maria pinned Lita in a mixed tag team match that also featured John Cena & Edge. This is their first confrontation since then. Lita easily wins this match with a DDT. After the match, Edge is about to give the spear to Maria when Mick Foley makes the save. Edge hits Foley with a spear and then gives him a conCHAIRto. Edge then accepts Foley’s WrestleMania challenge from last week. Winner: Lita
- It is announced that Steve Austin will be inducting Bret Hart into the Hall of Fame. It is then announced that Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerrero, & Rey Mysterio will induct Eddie Guerrero.
- Sherri Martel will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
- In the locker room, Mickie James is excited about the announcement of Sherri Martel. Trish Stratus then confronts Mickie about her behavior. Trish tells Mickie they need some time apart.
John Cena vs The Big Show - This is a WrestleMania XX rematch. At one point in the match, Chris Masters & Carlito try to interfere but Kane comes out and beats both men up. A few moments later, Triple H comes out with his sledgehammer. Cena hits the FU on The Big Show to get the win and the show ends with Triple H & Cena staring at each other. Winner: John Cena
