1/30 Raw Recap
Monday January 30, 2006
The main event is a WWE Title rematch between Edge & John Cena. Other matches include The Big Show & Kane defending the tag team titles against Chris Masters & Carlito, and the RAW returns of Goldust and RVD. The entertainment portion of the show is highlighted by Mickie James giving Trish Stratus a celebration for loving her.
- The show starts with Vince McMahon in the ring. Footage of Shane McMahon throwing Shawn Michaels out of The Royal Rumble is shown. Shawn then comes to the ring. Shawn challenges Vince to a match. Vince says no, he will only wrestle on his terms. Vince then dares Shawn to commit career suicide and hit him. Shane McMahon, hiding under the ring, comes in the ring and hits Shawn in the back with a chair.
Rob Van Dam vs Snitsky - This is Van Dam’s first televised 1 on 1 match in a year. RVD showed a little ring rust but the knee seems to be OK. RVD hits the 5 star splash to get the win. Winner: Rob Van Dam
- Mama Benjamin is yelling at her son for his 2 losses. She asks Shelton for a shoulder rub not realizing he left the room. Goldust appears and starts to rub her shoulders. He says he is the king of perversions and offers to give her a golden shower.
- Triple H is interviewed in the back by Maria. Triple H believes that a higher power cost him his automatic title shot. Since Rey claimed that he won the match for Eddie Guerrero, Triple H will take it out on his nephew Chavo.
Triple H vs Chavo Guerrero - This is a surprisingly competitive match. This one ends when Chavo misses the frog splash and Triple H hits the pedigree for the win. Winner: Triple H
- Carlito and Chris Masters are in the locker room. Carlito says that even Shaq couldn’t take him down. Chris Masters is still mad at Carlito for throwing him out of the Rumble last night and pinning him in the Elimination Chamber. Carlito says that those matches were every man for himself. Carlito asks if they are cool. Masters gives him a hard slap to the face and says that now things are cool.
World Tag Team Titles: Champs: Kane and The Big Show vs Carlito & Chris Masters - Kane & The Big Show dominate the beginning of this match until Carlito & Masters illegally double team Kane and ram his shoulder in the ring steps. Masters applies the master lock to Kane on 2 occasions. This match ends when TBS & Kane deliver a double choke slam to Masters to get the win. Winners: Kane & The Big Show
- During the commercial break, Rob Van Dam attacked Carlito. He wanted revenge for Carlito attacking his injured knee last year.
- Todd Grisham is in the back with Mickie James. He asks why she is having a celebration for Trish Stratus. Mickie claims that when Trish counted 3 last night, it proves that Trish loves her and she wants to return the love.
Shelton Benjamin w/his mama vs Goldust - This is Goldust’s first match in the WWE in several years. Mama is in a wheelchair and using an oxygen tube because of what happened earlier. When Goldust delivers shattered dreams to the golden globes of Shelton, mama gets out of her chair and hrows her shoe at Goldust. Goldust then leaves the ring to taunt mama. When he comes back to the ring, he is hit by a brutal kick to the head and then the T-Bone Suplex. Winner: Shelton Benjamin
- In the back, Shelton has to wait by the bath room for mama to come out. Ric Flair, with some of the Divas, comes over to Shelton. Shelton says that now that he has his confidence back, he wants Flair’s I-C title. Flair calls him a mama’s boy.
- Mickie James is in the ring and says that last night Trish proved that she loved her by counting the pin fall. Trish Stratus comes to the ring. The ring fills with balloons for this celebration. Mickie then introduces The Spirit Squad and they do some Trish cheers. Ashley then comes out. Ashley says that since Trish won’t say it, she will say it for her. Trish doesn’t love her and thinks she’s a psycho. The crowd starts a she’s a psycho chant and Mickie breaks down crying. Trish only get’s to say that she thinks Mickie is special when Mickie leaves the ring. All of a sudden, Mickie attacks Ashley. Trish pulls Ashley off Mickie and Mickie hits Ashley with a cheap shot. Mickie takes Trish’s actions to mean that she loves her.
WWE Championship: Champion John Cena vs Edge w/ Lita - This is a rematch from last night’s PPV. Tonight, the crowd was solidly behind Cena. After Cena hit the 5 knuckle shuffle, he went for the FU. Edge threw Cena into the ref and then hit a low blow and the spear. When the ref gets up, Cena is about to hit the FU. Lita enters the ring and accidentally hits Edge with the title. The referee disqualifies Cena for the interference. Winner: Edge by DQ
Match Results
