The best of 7 series continues without Booker T and MNM tries to regain the tag team titles from Batista and Rey Mysterio with the help of a returning star. These matches highlight the sports in sports entertainment. Melina suing Batista for sexual harassment due to date rape and the return of The Dicks “highlight” the entertainment in sports entertainment. At least no one killed themselves on a SmackDown! show this week.
- The show starts with Chris Benoit and Booker T arguing about the fate of the US Title with GM Teddy Long. An injured Booker T says they should go to the score card and give him the title. Benoit says he should win it since Booker can’t win. They agree to let Booker T pick a substitute for his match.
Matt Hardy vs JBL w/Jillian Hall - These two men fought at Armageddon and Hardy is still suffering from a sore neck he received in that match. JBL dominates the match and is about to win when The Boogeyman comes to the ring. JBL pulls Jillian in front of him when The Boogeyman spits his worms all over her. A freaked out JBL runs through the crowd in fear to escape The Boogeyman. Winner: Matt Hardy by count out
- Orlando Jordan asks Booker T and Sharmell if he can sub for him. They insult him and reminding him how he tapped out several times in less than a minute to Benoit.
The Mexicools vs The Dicks - After being gone for a while, The Dicks are back (I guess I have to change my year in review item relating to them). This absence gave Tazz & Michael Cole time to prepare more jokes based upon a certain body part. This week they decided to discuss the stature of The Dicks and how size doesn’t matter. The Mexicools looked very good in this match and won after Super Crazy gave a moonsault to Chad Dick to get the win. Winner: The Mexicools
- Booker T asks Randy Orton to be his substitute. Orton doesn’t want to do Booker the favor but Booker convinces Randy to do it by saying that he should go out 2005 a winner and not as a guy who lost to The Undertaker.
- A recap of the events of 2 weeks ago between Batista and Melina is shown.
- Melina holds a press conference in the ring. She calls Batista a sexual predator and claims that while she flirted with Batista, he wouldn’t stop when she asked. She then announces that she will be suing Batista for sexual harassment.
Match 5 of the Best of 7 Series for the US Title: Randy Orton vs Chris Benoit - The series is Booker T 3 – Benoit 1. If Orton wins, Booker T becomes champ. It should be noted that Orton beat Benoit last year to become the youngest ever World Champ in WWE history. Booker T and Sharmell are at the announcing table for the match. This is was a really good match that ended when Benoit had the cross face applied when Sharmell hit Benoit with a crutch in front of the ref. After the match, Orton gives Benoit an RKO. Winner: Chris Benoit wins by DQ
- Funaki interviews the new Cruiserweight Champ, Kid Kash, in his new talk show segment. Kid Kash insults Funaki and then gives him the Brian Buster on the stage.
- A vignette for the soon to arrive Finlay is shown. For those that don’t know, he used to wrestle in WCW as Fit Finlay and has spent the last few years training wrestlers for the WWE.
Sylvan vs Lashley - I should just cut and paste all my recaps of Lashley matches. This one has a twist when the former model Sylvan leaves the ring because he was hit in the face. Winner: Lashley via count out
- Josh Matthews interviews Batista about the allegations of date rape. Batista says that you have to look at the source of the accusations and that he was just going to focus on his title match tonight.
WWE Tag Title Team: Champs Batista and Rey Mysterio vs MNM - MNM work over Rey Mysterio’s leg for most of the match. Rey makes the hot tag to Batista. Batista is about to win the match when the ref bump happens. With the ref down, Mark Henry comes to the ring and gives Batista a powerslam. Joey Mercury pins the unconscious Batista to regain the tag team titles. Winners and new champions: MNM
